Munich, August 4, 2006. One of the machines Krauss-Maffei will be showing at the Fakuma 2006 is a KM 800-8100 MX, which demonstrates the company's engineering strength and know-how in big machines. Krauss-Maffei's MX range of big injection moulding machines is engineered for tough continuous production of large parts. Outstanding features of the MX series are the fast two-platen clamp and the high-performance plasticizing unit, which together deliver very high and sustained productivity.

Krauss-Maffei's innovative two-platen design at the heart of the MX's success

The two-platen clamp features short dry cycle times, excellent platen parallelism and good access to the mould. Easy to set, the multilevel profile for the mould safety feature protects against the damage to the mould. The result is lower maintenance effort and longer mould life.

The MX series was engineered from the start for modularity and great flexibility. It delivers outstanding performance, for example, in compression moulding for back injection of decor film, in glazing applications and in the production of large-area parts. These high-end processes are enjoying a surge in demand, so that the MX with its designed-in capabilities can open up new market areas for processors. MX machines are engineered for high performance in a wide range of applications. This includes DecoForm (injection of substrate behind decor materials), SkinForm (a combination of injection moulding and PUR foaming for premium surfaces), ClearForm for glass clear parts, CleanForm for cleanroom injection moulding, and the IMC process (direct compounding ahead of injection moulding). By integrating modular packages, MX machines can be converted for multicomponent moulding and foaming.

High-performance plasticizing and outstanding melt quality

Producing large area parts means processing large volumes of polymer in a very short time. To achieve consistently high product quality, melt quality must remain constant even at very high throughput. Plasticizing units with Krauss-Maffei screws deliver this high output and consistent quality. In addition to standard screws, Krauss-Maffei offers high-performance plasticizing systems for specific applications. These include our HPS and HPX plasticizing systems. We also offer application-specific plasticizing systems for specialized processes such as processing longfibre-reinforced plastics.

Operation made easy

All MX machines operate under the new MC 5 control system. The MC 5 is extremely user-friendly, with clear, easy-to-understand graphics, error-resistant input software, and fast process analysis. All machine states, inputs and alarm messages are logged for 100% error tracking.
